About The Coalition on Elections and Democracy (CED)

The Coalition on Elections and Democracy (CED) is focused on strengthening democracy in Pakistan through smooth transfer of power to people’s representatives based on free and fair elections that are participatory and pluralistic by building capacities of key stakeholders in the electoral and democratic systems.

The CED seeks to engage with a broad spectrum of Pakistani voters representing all key political, geographic, ethnic, linguist and gender and other citizen groups engaged in the elections process, to help them make informed decisions on voting. It also seeks to strengthen policymakers and electoral and democratic systems in support of greater participatory pluralisms in elections.

Based in Islamabad, the CED groups together social development organizations including Center for Governance and Public Accountability (CGPA), Centre for Peace and Development Initiatives (CPDI), Communications Research Strategies (CRS), Institute for Research, Advocacy and Development (IRADA), Community Appraisal and Motivation Programme (CAMP) and Individualland (IL). The CED is led by and headquartered at the CPDI office in Islamabad.
